The Alaska Training Cooperative offers live, interactive video conference delivery of this 8-hour class that is required for multiple levels of Behavioral Health Counselor Certification by the Alaska Commission on Behavioral Health Certification (ACBHC) and Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). The class is approved for Licensed Professional Counselor, Social Work and Psychologist CEs.Participants are provided with foundational information on traditional lifestyles and health practices of people living in Alaska prior to western contact. The training examines beliefs, attitudes, and knowledge of health promotion and maintenance that have been practiced over time and examines major changes leading to the current health status of the Alaska Native community. Special emphasis will be placed on strategies for improving health.
